Back in the 1980's Lebanon fell into civil war.
Groups of men, loyal to certain political or religious groups started taking foreign hostages in exchange for ransom.

Most of the European or American folk out there were Engineers or Teachers or Journalists covering the war.

There are some great books written from the point of view of some of those taken hostage at the time.

Some other rainbow ~ John McCarthy and Jill Morrel

Taken on trust ~ Terry Waite

And one that should be a 'must read' for anyone thinking of travelling abroad An evil cradling ~ Brian Keenan

Four different perspectives of the same events. ALL worthy of your time.
