Oh i've read loads of good ones.

How about.....The year of magical thinking ~ Joan Didion
Husband and Wife for nearly 40 years when their Daughter gets severe Pneumonia and is rushed to hospital in a coma. Then a few days later Husband drops dead over dinner !

Benjamin Franklin's memoirs are interesting given his role in history.

Black boy ~ Richard Wright
A young boy from Mississippi in the 20's has to cope with an absent Father and a chronically ill Mother in a time of segregation and worse.
Turns out when he gets to school, he's actually quite bright !

Mark Twain and Hemmingway have already been mentioned but are both crazy-excellent.

12 years a slave ~ Solomon Northrup
I'm sure you'll have seen all the movie hype stuff but the book is gut wrenching and a reminder that there are some things no amount of reparation or apology will ever make right.

Then there's stuff like.... 7 pillars of wisdom ~ T.E Lawrence
Diary of a young girl ~ Anne Frank
Out of Africa ~ Karen Blixen
I am Malala ~ Malala Yousefzai etc.
I'll be looking up all of these thank you @Picklebobble2
