Is your hair the colour of lemons?

@InOtterWords haha no.. only in an emotional level.. or frustations etc..
@d0vev ah, but he was not frustrated. Rudy strikes me as the person who knew that one day Liesl would be his girl, he had the confidence, the loyalty and the heart.
Absolutely loved that character.

@InOtterWords I found him sad. Wanting to feel atleast a small sense of satisfaction. Maybe he had the confidence, but he was out of luck
@d0vev he knew she loved him. She confided in him about Max

@InOtterWords yes he did. But what had he to offer to her?
@d0vev all that he was, a good man with a heart full of love. It is more than most could ever hope for.

@InOtterWords I felt he wanted to prove to her that he was more than just someone hopelessly in love with her. I am not denying what you are saying. It is just my interpretation of the character 🙂
@d0vev interpretations are always interesting and discussions are fun.

Rudy gave bread to a Jew marching, this was before he knew of Leisl's connection to Max and he had no idea of her thoughts on this. I think he would have made a fine man. I remember it caught my breath when you were told by the narrator he would die.

I re-read the book recently, my daughter was reading it and the end is so heart wrenching....the author makes you live through it twice, the first when the narrator, death, tells you what he is doing and then when you see it through liesl's eyes. It is so beautifully written

@InOtterWords I agree. It was heart breaking. More heartbreaking to see through Liesel’s eyes and her words.
I have only read the book once and I only read it because the narrator was death. Its a unique concept.
But apart from sorrow what I really enjoyed was Liesl describing the clouds.some day they were ropes extended to the sun, someday it was some monster that came from over the hills. It was an amazing read.
@d0vev it really is beautiful, I would put it in my top 10 of books

@InOtterWords what other books would you suggest?
@d0vev The Time Travellers Wife

His Dark Materials trilogy

These are other unique stories that are beautifully written.
