I'm in the process of having my book published, and they are asking me to change A LOT. Would you listen to them?

It's just hard for me because I spent years with these characters how they are, and they are asking me to change BIG plot elements. I knew they would ask me to change or cut here and there, but not like this.

I am of course grateful to even have my book published by anyone, but you see my delima. Or maybe not. 😂

Depends how important you feel the current plot to be. Are you happy enough with the suggestions that you don’t mind making the changes and will they still publish if you don’t take their suggestions?

@Sweetlikepoison That's the thing. I'm afraid they will feel like they are taking too much of a risk if I don't make changes.

I am very happy with the plot of the book. I spent years on it.

Maybe have a meeting with them and ask if you don’t make the changes whether they’d consider continuing with the publication. If not maybe think about self publication?@lauriethecolourful

@Sweetlikepoison I think I will have to do that. I will explain why I don't want to make the changes and hopefully we can come to a compromise. I am not opposed to changing things, just not big things like major plot elements.

I don't know enough about self publication, but I don't know if it is for me. I'm not sure it would reach a lot of people if I published it alone.

I’ve heard of an app you can upload it to and people pay for your story. I know it’s not really what you’re wanting but it’s always good to have options

@Sweetlikepoison Yeah, I know of a few apps like that. :) My dream has always been to have phsycial copies of the book there. 😂
