1. 11/22/63 (Stephen King). The feeling that even horrible things that happen can have a purpose

4. Artistic talent is far more common than the talent to nurture artistic talent. Any parent with a hard hand can crush it, but to nurture it is much more difficult.

5. Mike Bowditch from Paul Dorian's novels. His ethics on the outdoors and conservation are very close to mine.
