Well, these are high fantasy novels. This book series, an example of something God doesn’t want Christians delving into, as warned in the Bible, or even Harry Potter (delving into and promotes practicing witchcraft) as it is notable for its lengthy detailed imaginary world, and well-developed magic system.

@LadyGrace pharmakeia (largely translated as witchcraft/magic) often refers to the ritualistic practice of psychiatric drug adminstration coupled with chanting to alter the individual's perceptions & beliefs.
Perhaps it relates to the modern idea of witchcraft, but I would imagine in a very different sense than the practice performed in ancient times.
