There's a lot, but one I've never thrown out is The Chosen by Chaim Potok, another is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

@HannahSky
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams
as the north wind lays waste the garden

thats all remember

@Dancingxghost very good 🙂

@HannahSky that book made me cry actually, makes me believe things that in this world would be considered stupid to believe
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost I love that book, I can still pick it up and open it to any passage and find something that I need to feel and understand in my life. It's very hopeful and soul reaching
Dancingxghost · 36-40, M
@HannahSky that's the scary part it feels you up with light and emotion but as soon as you walk outside the world hits you with something entirely different
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost I felt that too, it's definitely the struggle of trying to take it in and then walk into life that seems so different and unfeeling in many ways. Probably why I keep going back to it and Rumi too.

@HannahSky you're braver than me every time I try I just feel how shattered everything is
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost I feel the ways it's complicated and intricate but really there and beautiful, on a good day
Dancingxghost · 36-40, M
@HannahSky maybe on a good day but how many of those you have experienced?
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost lots of good days, but it's not easy always.
Dancingxghost · 36-40, M
@HannahSkywell It's been a while for me since I had a good day or the feeling of one
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost I hear you, it's a struggle, everything goes in cycles though, spiritually, don't forget that, you will have better days and moments.
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost do you look at book tube on YouTube? they have some interesting book reviews on lots of different genres
Dancingxghost · 36-40, M
@HannahSky first time i heard about book tube I usually go to bookstores to do some window shopping then I go to second hand bookstores and try to find them for a cheaper price, and yeah everything comes back the good and the bad cyclical as you said but that doesn't change the fact that thw weight of the bad days us heavier and last longer than the good ones
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost search YouTube for a book review and you'll see a bunch of different people who do weekly or monthly reviews, some are interesting, get good ideas. Lots are young adult which I don't really like but if you search for a title you can find people and follow.
I hear you on the rough days, sometimes you have to look at moments when the days are bad and make sure you have support from people in your real life. But you sound very smart and understanding of things, that's a strength 💪

@HannahSky once you hit a wall a thousand times you kinda learn how to basically hug that feeling without letting it break you
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost turn around and hug a tree. I'm not being sarcastic, I mean touch something that means something to you and connects you to the earth and grounds you. Stay there and read the Prophet for a while, every day if you need to.
Dancingxghost · 36-40, M
@HannahSky sounds like meditation but in a kore earthly kind of way I might actually take your advice
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost it is in a way. It's not a cure, but it connects you to something.
Dancingxghost · 36-40, M
@HannahSky like trying to learn to love the world again even when most of me despise it
HannahSky · F
@Dancingxghost that's great. If you despise it, maybe it's because you really don't but feel upset about it and needing something
