Really hard to find official stats because not all countries require birth certificates so difficult to collate.
I suspect it largely depends on individual countries and also different 'names' for the same 'name'
For example. In many western nations i suspect John is the most popular male name.
But if you go to Brazil for example Jao may well be the most popular male name.
Those who study such things may determine that Jao is a South American equivalent of John.

Similarly, as somebody already pointed out, Mohamed may be popular in some areas while Mohammad will be more popular elsewhere !
Same for those countries who either are or had close ties to the Catholic church.
Awful lot of Saints in the Catholic faith. So quite likely high numbers of Thomas; Paul; Mary; Agatha; Collette etc.
Then when you come to African nations....
