Dresden is great by Jim Butcher. Set in a modern world where mythology of all sorts is real.
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan is set in a future world where society has broken down and reverted to a sort of medieval
Brandon Sanderson’s entire works. He is outstanding and has multiple worlds with really creative magic systems. He finished writing wheel of time after Jordan died.
Fitz and the Fool series from Robin Hobb isn’t great. About an assassin.
