Is being desperate ever a good thing ?

I was reading this poem yesterday and it was mentioned how being desperate was beautiful.

“But there is nothing more beautiful than being desperate, and there is nothing more risky than pretending not to care.”

What do you think?

i dont think this was meant to be desperate, in that pushy hit on kind of way. but striving, without being thoughtful about it.
and i DO agree with that idea of risk
