Is being desperate ever a good thing ?

I was reading this poem yesterday and it was mentioned how being desperate was beautiful.

“But there is nothing more beautiful than being desperate, and there is nothing more risky than pretending not to care.”

What do you think?

in an artistic or a poetic sense.. yes it can be depending on what it is that's being spoken about. not being depserate for just anything, but imagine being 'desperate' for the touch, or the kiss, or the carress of someone you have long waited to see again, who has been away for ages? it's a particular kind of thing, and not everyone can exactly grasp what they mean when they say it. i get it entirely, and i know what they mean. it's a deep sort of ache, that sort of desperation, and in a way, it IS sort of beautiful to desire something so much that you would give anything...or to even know that desire in someone else
