Is being desperate ever a good thing ?

I was reading this poem yesterday and it was mentioned how being desperate was beautiful.

“But there is nothing more beautiful than being desperate, and there is nothing more risky than pretending not to care.”

its beautiful to have been that way and to feel the elation and appreciation that comes with finally getting what you always wanted. its a valuable experience, but not one that anyone would want to experience. certain types of desperation are just awful.
