Have you ever read a plot line and thought that is you?

In 2010, Cormoran Strike, a private investigator who is an ex-SIB investigator who lost part of a leg in a bombing in Afghanistan, and also is the illegitimate son of a famous rock star (by an affair with a notorious groupie), is broke, and his birth father's business agent is calling in the loan that he gave to Strike to open his office. At that point, Strike is hired by John Bristow, the adoptive brother of supermodel Lula Landry who had fallen from her balcony three months previously. Bristow wants Strike to investigate his sister's supposed suicide. Bristow's other sibling, a brother named Charlie, had been a schoolmate of Strike before his death, which came when he fell into a quarry while riding on his bicycle.

I have not read the books yet but will do so. I liked the tv program. I was shocked at the plot line about the child killed by his half brother by being pushed over a cliff on a bicycle because my elder brother did that to me as a child. I finally made sense of what happened then and many other occasions - if not murderous intent at least malicious. Sometimes it takes art to see reality.

@sogdianrock that's a hell of a story! Can imagine that taking a lot to process

Thanks. There is far more. It really is worthy of a novel of its own.

Great books. Strike is a great character, bbc portrayal is ok based on first three episodes but not as deep emotionally or relationshipwise as the books I felt.
