Don't even argue with him. He is just coming up with whatever will get a response out of you, getting you to be defensive and argue with him. You've paid your dues for 16 years. Abusers never change. Because change is much, much harder than finding, luring and training a new victim...or, what's even easier, luring a long time victim back. Don't fall for it. Ideally, don't even communicate with him at all. He'll be waiting for you to get lonely, insecure and vulnerable. Then he'll hope to get you in a weak moment and crumble those walls.
