I once came home from work, and my daughter asked about my day, and I asked back "do you really want to know", and she replied "yes" after which I went into a detailed dissertation of my day, watching as her eyes glazed over.

The next time she asked I asked back "do you really want to know" and her reply was an emphatic "NO".
