Why muscle pain w/ the flu ?

I’m currently in the flu boat right now. Amazingly the muscle aches, this time around , is the first and predominant, thus far ( I am keeping my finger crossed), the only really troublesome symptom I have.

Now based on how all of this is going down, I have a medical evaluation premise to put forth,
I have scanned a multitude of medical sites offering explanation for the causes of muscle pain accompanying the flu. And they all given the highfalutin medical /scientific reasons for the cause of accompanying muscle pain.

Whereas it is quite ascertained nowadays that many pains and conditions surrounding an injury or a condition, actually have a defense-mechanism function.

Has any study ever looked into the fact that the muscle pain is by design to slow you down and offer you a more preferred window of healing ?

On those previous occasions when I have encounter the flu, everything from the tips of my fingers to my hair follicles and all points in-between, HURT !
Therefore, I,m not going anywhere until the condition improves itself, with proper rest and medicinal attributes.
