My maths teacher at school had a degree in theology and his previous role had been meteorologist. Quite few people have careers relevant to their degree.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
There are two ways to think about this. If you want to be hired at a theologian, you will need an advanced degree, and your most likely job would be as a theology professor.
But, a bachelor's degree is not something that boxes people into one particular specialty. There are lots of college grads who have jobs that are not directly related to their majors. I teach mathematics, but many of our alums go into other fields altogether, while the employer figures a math major "knows how to think logically." If nothing else, studying theology will allow you to develop skills in writing, oral communication, and critical thinking, all of which are valuable to an employer.
