It's very all over the place. In general people are accepting enough, but there are also people scattered around the place who are homophobic too
I live in San Francisco, and believe it or not, it still exists. But nowhere near in the numbers it does in other areas of the country.
Chicago here as well and agree with Mandy that overall it's not a prevalent thing, still exists of course, but in the city it's not a huge problem, within my geographical portion of the city that is.
