You'd be surprised at the small differences you can make in the lives of those you see every day. What you're wanting to do is amazing. Stick with it and keep your eyes open for those in need around you 👍

Then the military will give you a chance to help people possibly abroad. I know the US Navy does a lot if disaster relief and helps during times of tragedy. Look into being a Navy Corpsman

They were recently in Tibet helping with the earthquake...also look into the peace corps, they can also use your expertise.

Military is a good start. Try dojng something in the medical field. You'll get the chance to help many..
