ive learned many but I think what is most important is knowing what's most important are the people that drive you nuts on a daily basis are the ones you will miss the most when they are no longer around

People are rarely who you think they are.
Friends will always let you down when you're relying on them.
Our parents aren't who we think they are!
Stuff like that.

never expect people to have common sense

You never know what you really have until it's gone.

Be honest with yourself. If there is a part of your personality that is weird or counter to culture (so long as it doesn't cause harm to others) you need to embrace it, or you will forever question and regret it, being a thorn in your side as you put on a mask for the world.

One I just learned recently, don't take anyone for granted. One day they won't be here anymore, you don't want there last memory of you to be a bad one.

@twistermind. Actually, I don't have a negative view on things... I use too. But that's to a group of friends I work with, my views have changed and are more positive based. My reply was simply a venting of a situation I always seem to find myself in... a lesson of life.

I love volunteering and going to third-world countries to help their children and bring them a sense of hope. It's just that whenever I do and post the photos of my trip online, someone always says that I was wasting my time. But then will see another friend do something similar (and much smaller) and praise them as a hero. It's an annoyance... but it's not going to stop me from helping others.

JQuest @: I'm sure there are many people who appreciate your volunteering work. Why do you have such negative view? I admire people who are worried for others and the great ideals. I can't be the only one.

Another less I learned though, people are fucking hypocrites. That no matter how many people I help through volunteering or humanitarian missions, there is going to be someone who tells me that what I am doing is a waste of time; but will then turn around and praise someone else for doing the exact same thing I was doing.
