She probably didn't want to involve her family. Lovers quarrel, you know. Maybe that's why she confided in you.

As a friend you tried. But I think she wanted just you to be there for her. You came up with a good plan, just, you sort of needed her permission on it though.

You tried your best. Lesson learned. Next time get the full 411. She should have been more appreciative though. Sounds like youre a good friend. And the boyfriend sounds like a jerk. She can do without him.
