I thought bisexual meant attracted to men and women, whereas pansexual was all about fucking cooking utensils.

From my understanding. There are people who aren’t a man or a woman. Like hermaphrodites… pansexuality is meant to include them too while bisexuality is strictly for women or men. It’s a bit much… but I guess that makes sense?
