I Love Public Radio

I remember even before I was in school getting up and breakfasting with my dad with the radio merrily providing the musical accompaniment, and man I was hooked/

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybfS7eYQuhY]

When the radio got to rock and roll for his taste,he switched to a news station, bleah! I was going to school with scenes of war and carnage...I needed a RADIO!
When i got my first job I got the full deal..a stereo receiver, two speaker, turntable. But the radio was failing me..how many times can one listen to Ringo's The No No Song. The dudes in the mail room soon turned me on to a left of the dial station and things were *jake* until corporate rock cherry picked the best of the second British Wave artists and the station became a Spanish music station.
But I had seen it coming and had bailed to a local NPR station WFUV,90.7.
Still left of the dial still more rockin out.
Sometimes they really go gonzo and once in what was billed as an anti-Valentines Day Party, the Dj unreleased this tune on us

I may not have recovered yet!😜
Yet another example was after playing the following tune, the disc jockey drily said,I know what you're thinking, not ANOTHER Hassidic reggae punk rock artist!
Like we need another!

Okay then, nice to spice it up and have a good dJ along for the ride.
I have another Left of the dial station in reserve but this is PRESET ONE

Thank you. Most people see three videos and it's see ya!But how can you write about radio without music? Can't.
It was fun writing, thanks for taking the time to weigh in!

@bookerdana: I watched all 3 videos too. I enjoyed the whole thing. As a music lover, I appreciated the detail very much.
bookerdana · M
Yes,I understood that,I think you're a music connoisseur :)
I was frankly surprised they even had a video for baby sitting boogie;I think my first record request was The Chipmonks!
Alvin!😆

@bookerdana: hahaha. I didn't listen to that one...I think the Chipmunls song on the dumb ditties album was my least favorite....but I can appreciate the nostalgic feelings. Thanks for sharing a little bit of YOU.
I often find that when I think back on my life....I have more of a soundtrack than actual memories.
bookerdana · M
Yes,me and my brothers loved The Chipmunks,so badass;it may have been My Friend the Witch doctor I asked for, sounds so lame now but you're right its an aural memory.
I think The Monster Mash has stood the test of time,at least they play it every Halloween.
Maybe they should have included It's My Party by Lesley Gore in there :O

@bookerdana: I really think that album helped open me up to music...not be stuck in one genre ya know.
Looking back at it now....I wonder if it had anything to do with my love of Rob Zombie's stuff today....hmmm....
bookerdana · M
Sure R&R assimilates everything.."you will be assimilated. You can here a lot of genres crying to be let out in that old pop music.
I just like this;man don't..c'est dommage!😭
