I Hate Hearing The Same 5 Songs All Day On The Radio

Me, too!! Before the CRB inexplicably eliminated the royalty discounts that small broadcasters like me needed, I had a station on Live365.com. My station had a playlist of over 2,000 tracks.

I ran a small station on Live365. Like most broadcasters on Live365, we ran very small stations that generated little or no revenue. Most of us were willing to stream music by artists that are ignored by mainstream radio. Therefore, we helped these artists get their music heard. Because we generated little or no revenue, we relied upon the discounts in order to remain viable. The elimination of the discounts forced Live365 out of business, and silenced thousands of stations, thereby eliminating the outlet for many artists to be heard.

The thing that so many seem to be forgetting is that radio, terrestrial and internet, is the primary source for promoting music and artists. This helps build the artist's fan base. The bigger an artist's fan base, the more people who will purchase their music and attend their live shows.

Does General Motors or Coca-Cola force broadcasters to pay for the privilege of promoting their products?
