An Inspiring Centenary Today

BBC Radio Three broadcasts a daily Choral Evensong service from churches around the country.

The first was from Westminster Abbey, at 3pm on 7th October 1926.

This afternoon's was also from Westminster Abbey, to the time and day 100 years later.

Music by Prendergast, Howells, Parry, Harris, and tue to R3's spirit of introducing new works, the Introit was the first broadcast of Kerensa Briggs' Almighty and Everlasting God (I think setting rather than text as well).

Pedantry corner: wasn't Choral Evensong always at 4pm until fairly recently? I seem to remember setting a recording for it when I was working. Memory may be failing me.
