My very first com-radio

Today March 18 2026 I got my very first handheld com-radio delivered from FB-radio in sweden. Its a very handy little two-way radio, smaller than a cellphone, that works on the licensefree 69 MHz frequency that is free to use for anyone. 69 MHz frequency is way better to use because you get much clearer sound and its also much less distorsion.

In the box was the radio, a beltclip, 30 cm antenna, a hand-strap, an english manual, a warranty-card, a table-charger and an extra battery. The original antenna is 30 cm long but I bought a longer antenna that is 50 cm long to get even better transmitting. I have mounted the longer antenna on the radio.

It has very much features such as roger-beep, built in flashlight, backlight changing from two white steps to two black steps, you can name channels or delete channels and much more. etc. Being a radio amateur is a very fun hobby with more than 1 million active users worldwide and more than 10 000 active users only in sweden. Its also very good to have a com-radio near you either at home or in your car incase something should happen, in crisetimes etcc when your cellphone doesent work anymore

I used to be a ham. (Got seduced away by the Internet) I never noticed the 69MHz band in N America. Is that new or a European thing?
