why do old songs being played on the radio now sound 'rehashed'

i just tried listening to gold on the radio which plays old hits supposedly, and they played a genesis track ' follow you, follow me' but the version they played sounded remixed and not the original?....why are they doing this? if your gonna play oldie hits please play the original as it sounded back then.
