how come you don't hear of any radio talkshows anymore

radio phone ins, where callers ring in to discuss anything on their mind with the radio talk show host? there was a few when i was growing up in manchester, james stannage, umberto...those phone in shows were great of a night time and very entertaining too...but i don't know of anything similar now in the uk? it seems they have all been closed down, in my opinion radio entertainment isn't what it was, times have definetely changed and not for the best in my view.
