I think power can corrupt and I think there's probably a verse in Proverbs about that. It's not money that is evil for example, it's the love of money that is evil and that can certainly change a person. Too much wealth and fame can do the same. Or even a huge ego.
The Bible does warn about how power, authority, and high status lead people to pride, injustice, and corruption.
Relevant Bible Passages
• Proverbs 29:2 — "When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan." This verse shows how leadership in the hands of bad people harms society.
• Ecclesiastes 5:8 — "If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at what you see; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still."
This describes a chain of government corruption where leaders at various levels take advantage of their positions.

@LadyGrace yes exactly, an inanimate object like paper isn't the problem, it's the love or worship of it.
This is why those preachers with private jets and "mega churches" are the furthest thing from Christian or Jesus that I can think of.
Like I said before I'm not a follower, but the Bible sure does have a lot of wisdom in it, like many ancient texts. We've been warned numerously over the Millenia and look at the world now.

@Egg01 it's okay if you're not a believer. I agree with what you said 100%. I don't like that either. Those are people who are just using the Lord to make money and I'm not for that either. They think they are fooling God but they are not. But not all churches are like that. We can't say all of them are but I see plenty of them but they will have to answer for what they do, not me.

Quotes, while interesting and informative, are often one dimensional... There's always an anti quote lol
