Jonathan Quayle Higgins, III VC…

(to Magnum, who is making him a drink)
"—and don’t ruin my whiskey with ice ! I’m not a bloody American !"
DrWatson · 70-79, M
In an old movie called Moulin Rouge (not to be confused with a modern movie with the same name), Jose Ferrar plays Toulouse Lautrec.

His friend, concerned about how much he has been drinking one night, urges, "No more cognac. Have some water!"

He responds, "water is for Americans!"
@DrWatson Speaking of red windmills, we just bought yarn from a shop named Le Mouton Rouge Knittery!
@ElwoodBlues "The Red Sheep" Knittery ! That’s clever !
😊
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues So, red yarn without any dye!
bookerdana · M
Americans take all the heat!😃
ArtieKat · M
Except Higgins would have said "whisky" not "whiskey", @bijouxbroussard 🤪
@ArtieKat Is it pronounced differently ?
ArtieKat · M
@bijouxbroussard I'm teasing you! But he would be as much of grammar-nazi as me! 🤗
craig7 · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard They're pronounced the same, but "whiskey" with an "e" is the correct spelling for Irish whiskey;without the "e" is for Scotch.
