I Like to Collect Quotes

I posted and occasionally add to a list of my least favorite religious (Christian) lines.

I'm TRYING to concentrate on the positive. As part of that effort here are some of my favorite religious/ Christian lines and quotes; I'll probably never get sick of hearing these lines but if I do, I'd delete them from here and add them to the other list. Disclaimer: I might be slightly paraphrasing some of them but I don't think I changed any of their points by doing so.

"The Christian religion, if it is true is of the utmost importance. If it is false it is of no importance at all. The one thing it can not be is moderately important." Atheist turned Christian writer Clive Staples Lewis

"You're not a preacher nor a theologian. You should not be writing about religion"
"If preachers and theologians would stop talking over everybody else's heads, I'd gladly stop writing about religion" Reportedly dialogue between J. R. R. Tolkein and C. S. Lewis

"Some people say a Christian is somebody who does not smoke, drink or swear. If that is your standards of being a Christian, than I am not one." C.S. Lewis

I could probably list 50 lines from Lewis that I LOVE but for now here's the last 1

"Perfect love casts out all fear. But so do several other things. To include being drunk, being stoned and gross stupidity." Lewis paraphrasing First John. Chapter 4ish verse 5ish

"When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me, to include the fear of being thought of as childish." Lewis paraphrasing First Corinthians 13: 11ish

"The pay might not be much but the benefits package is out of this world." Retired professional boxer and ordained minister George Foreman

"The resurrection of Jesus Christ is either the greatest miracle in history or the cruelest hoax ever played." Atheist turned Christian writer Josh McDowell

"I believe in the eternal security of believers but I also believe in the eternal insecurity of make believers" The Rev/ Dr. John Vernon McGee

"The Bible says to love your enemies and also to love your neighbors because in general, they are the same people." G. K. Chesterson whose full name I don't remember

"What could be more important than Lynard Skynard?!" "Jesus." Reportedly dialogue between some member of Lynard Skynard and 1 of their former backup singers.

"Lead me not into temptation. I'm quite good at finding the way by myself." A paraphrase of a line from the Lord's Prayer, other than that it's origin is unknown to me.

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, the wisdom to know the difference and the good luck to not screw up too often." A paraphrase of the Serenity Prayer which I recall reading in a Steven King book

"The less your salvation depends on you, the more secure you will be in it." Origin unknown to me, but I LOVE that line

"Instead of asking me to bless what you are doing, why not join me in what I'm doing? It's already blessed." Reportedly, what God told Bono and I keep telling myself to look up Bono's real name but keep forgetting to do so. :/
