Humanity is a misnomer. The term should be, 'Lifity', as all life has a tendency to protect and defend its own.
Herds of buffalo will encircle their weak, young, and old as a hedge of protection from dangers, often at risk to them selves.
I used to live in L.A., in one of them seedy hotels. On my way home from work one day I saw a couple dogs, or rather smelled them. One was sick, deathly sick. It was infested badly with mange and had maggots around its wounds. Well there was another dog, just a couple of mutts, the second watching over the first, Licking its wounds, and standing guard over the sick dog.
I sat and watched, bought a hot dog(DAMN good hot dog vendors back then) with the intent of feeding the sick dog, but, nothing doing, the 'guard' dog, no taller than my knees, was ferociously protective.
"cool dog" I thought, so I tossed him the dog and backed up. He picks it up and drops it off at the mouth of the sick dog, who was to sick to even eat.
That was not kindness, that was not humanity, that was just life honoring life.
We use words like kindness, humanity, charity, and generosity, to describe those all to rare traits in human society, that is inherit in each of us.
Not many of us would licks another persons putrid ass out of pure compassion, lest of all me. Not many of us would be starving and yet willing to share a the only food they may see with another (now this, I HAVE done).
But yeah that my opinion on humanity.
