I Like a Good Quote

“Be wary of friends—they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy. They also become spoiled and tyrannical. But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove. In fact, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them.”
― Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power

There may be an element of truth in that quote, but there are elements of foolishness in it as well. Anyone who thinks that making enemies is necessary is nuts. Many enemies will not be loyal, they will plot their revenge and stab you in the back.

It is about personal character and I've seen good people do bad things and then find they were wrong. Those that apologize can usually be trusted and become allies or even friends.

Bad people are bad people...
