The arms that hold us

The Arms That Hold Us:

There is something beautifully sacred about the arms that hold us.
Not simply arms that reach for us, but arms that really hold us.

The kind that do not ask us to be brighter when we are tired, stronger when we are weary, or less complicated when life has left its fingerprints upon our hearts.

They make room.

There is a beautiful difference between being embraced and being held. An embrace can last a moment, but being truly held is something the soul remembers. It is the quiet knowing that, for a little while, we do not have to carry everything alone.

To the arms that hold us when our words disappear.
That understand the silence between our sentences.
That never hurry us back into the world before we are ready.

To the arms where we can soften.

Where the armour can fall quietly to the floor and we can be human, imperfect, tender, hopeful, weary, beautiful.

Perhaps some of the greatest love we will ever know will not arrive with grand declarations. Perhaps it will arrive quietly, in the warmth of someone who stays close and whispers without words:

You can rest here.

So, to the arms that hold us, really hold us, may we never underestimate their tenderness.

Because sometimes the safest place in this enormous world is not a place at all.

Sometimes, it is simply being held where no words are needed.

Well. Beautiful sentiment. And a nice idea. I don't remember the feeling. I suspect I'll never know it again.
