I am 100% responsible for my own happiness. The ball is totally in my court every single day, all day long. It's always about the thoughts we think and the way we perceive and focus on life. I've denied myself happiness in the past out of guilt and lack of self-worth. What I've come to realize is that Life merely mirrors back to us our own thoughts and perceptions. Any beliefs we have about choosing and deserving happiness lies solely within us to understand and change.
We cannot make anyone else happy either. We can do what they want and please their ego for a little while, but we cannot actually give them a sense of true happiness that lasts for more than a short time.
Choosing happiness is not selfish at all even though many of us were led to believe that. When we choose happiness, we are a much more pleasant energy to be around and a lighthouse to others. We are kinder, more generous and compassionate, and more forgiving of ourselves and others. There are so many gifts when we choose to take 100% responsibility for our own happiness.
