What's it about?...

"They paint the world full of shadows, and tell their children to stay close to the light. Their light, their reasoning their judgments, because in the darkness, there be dragons...

But it isn't true. We can prove that it isn't true. In the dark, there is discovery, there is possibility, there is freedom in the dark once someone has illuminated it. And who has been so close to doing it as we are right now?"

It made such an impression on me when I came across it, and is so perfectly fitting with the situation. It makes me feel a sense empathy and hope for people who are long dead. Even if I know how the story ends.

Any guess Is welcome

Illuminating the dark requires another light source. To me that sounds like cheating. I thought we only had one light source.

Edit: i was assuming that you couldn't change the alignment of the previous source of light though
