I Like a Good Quote

Words to ponder.

"Why do people have to be this lonely? What’s the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?"
Haruki Murakami

That’s awfully sad. 😔 I feel for those who are lonely. I’m grateful for my husband and good friends whose company I enjoy. I sometimes get that pang of loneliness myself, this pain deep inside, and it’s easily recognizable. Fortunately, it doesn’t happen often. When it does, I try to find something I enjoy like taking a walk, writing, reading, watching a show I like, etc. to replace the lonely feeling with a happier one. Or I reach out to you, and your compassion, wisdom, humor, and kindness always help me. ❤️

@diablesse While there is so much joy and beauty, kindness and compassion in this world, it is overshadowed by the cruelness and indifference.

Cruelness, violence, indifference scream out loud, while kindness and compassion whisper softly.

@diablesse Quite true

“It wasn’t simply his choosing to be alone that kept him that way. It was almost a condition of his existence. The feeling that he was an outsider had always been there.” - Terry Brooks

@sciguy18 That quote brings to mind L'Etranger de Camus.

Love this! Especially this:
all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves.
It's sad though.

I didn't get the lonely gene, I almost never feel it. I do feel quite loved by some..
But, I think, it's easier for many to live in a state of delusion and illusion/fantasy, like on social sites like this. Then they don't have to sacrifice anything or suffer through the challenging times. Just some thoughts.

@Magenta I think many have been burned once too often and prefer to push people away rather than risk getting hurt again.
