When I speak English I tend to rrrrroll the "R" at the tip of my tongue 😏

@helenS Sounds more Scottish rolling your R's.....they do that at the bottom of the South Island in NZ.

@KiwiBird I was in Japan several times (business-related), and my Japanese friends told me they really encounter difficulties to distinguish the American-style "L" and "R", like in those old-school stereotypical (and maybe a bit racist) jokes ("stupid Amelicans"). It's because their own "R" is sort of between the English "R" and "L", and the American "R" is formed basically at the sides of the tongue, similar to the L.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales In American movies, the "rrrolled" R is typically associated with Russian spies. 😏

@helenS ???? Hispanic cultures routinely roll their R as part of the proper enunciation of their language, and I have noticed Germanic languages do also. But I havent heard a Russian do it yet...like there are a lot of Russians in Texas. 😉
