Ask them a question where they get to talk about themselves, instant replies.

Ask them a question where they have to give the asker something back. A lot more quieter.

@CheekyBadger i meant where you ask the public a question not general conversation.

@PaleandPolluted im just guessing but sometimes people find it easier to relate something that they have directly experienced which could come across as them talking about themselves. Some questions are hard to answer too.
