If you could travel back in time, do you believe you could alter the timeline by interfering?

If you believe it's possible, would interference change the future, or would it create an alternate timeline that coexists alongside the others?

If you are going back as energy meaning the present you inhabits your younger body then I believe you would change the timeline but if you go back in body and spirit then I think you would just create a new timeline.
