What was your marriage proposal like?

I was just reading the account from putins first wife.
He was poorly dressed and she was convinced that they were breaking up, he said something along the lines of "it's been three years now, you know I'm not an easy going man, you must have made your mind up by now."
She replied with a "yes?"
And he said "well with that then I propose marriage."

It wasn’t picture book because I had no expectations about engagement or my wedding so I guess it was easier for me. A lot of women fantasise about this stuff for years and want it perfect which I think makes it trickier @Mellowgirl

@SW-User I think it depends on the woman.
At my age now knowing how expensive they are, how unkind and ungrateful guests can be I'd happily elope and just do a reception at a later date.

It's not really about them it's about me and my husband and working together to really make things work to last.
