What if he takes half the Country and self-segregates?

@GERRI No state is deplorable, and in no state are there only deplorable people, the majority in every state are loyal normal citizens of the US. You're not allowed to secede, because that is treason against the US. To pretend you'd have the whole state's permission just cos it goes red on a map is ridiculous. In 2016 some of the red states were only red by 1%...

@Notauser If any State, say California, sought to secede from The United States legally, why should people in Ohio have a say? My interest is only from a sociological curiosity. I majored in sociology--and in the spirit of full disclosure, didn't graduate-- The Founders believed a limited centralized government would make a union between states more palatable to the masses.
You sound as if you want no political opposition to your"values," be them political values or social. Am I right? I heard Howard Dean say once, and I'm sure it was a Freudian slip-- "The minority has an equal say, too." Of course, he only promoted that while his party was the minority.

@GERRI I personally completely support the right of states to legally secede. But that process needs a referendum directly on that question and the conditions on the outcome would need to be agreed by everyone in advance - the scenario you described would be clearly illegal and treason and *any* govt left or right would be duty bound to militarily end the situation and charge the ring leaders with treason.
