Elon Musk was born in South Africa, not the USA.
Elon never stepped foot in the USA until he was about 24 years old with good intentions of enrolling in Stanford University which he did, but he never attended any classes there.
Why would anyone except the likes of Donald J. Trump expect Elon Musk of all US immigrants, to know anything about being the Head of US Efficiency?

I've been asking myself that question ever since the day Trump announced that boy-wonder-in-jumpers-with-his-mom-at-his-side, would be Head of America's newly minted "Department of Efficiency".
One doesn't have to look any further than the relationship Tesla employees have had with Musk to conclude that his modus operandi when it comes to running a company efficiently, is to pay minimum wage and layoff staff without warning.
Where my first question falls however, is in asking "What's in this for Elon Musk?".
It was Elon Musk who suddenly injected himself into Trump's orbit; it was not Trump who went talent-scouting in search for the brightest and the best to fill that roll as Head of Efficiency, thereby recruiting Elon Musk from the CEO's office of Tesla to fill that government void.
Elon Musk conned Trump into inducting Musk into Trump's inner circle and Trump went for the bait, but only because of Trump's adolescent allure to shiny objects and the illusion of apparent wealth that Musk exhibits on the surface, all of which fell in line with Trump's perception of what constitutes a collection of good thing to have in one's possession.

@swirlie Musk obviously has his Space Axe to grind as well as automotive and batteries. All can use government contracts, licences and assistance.. Trump can use a buyer for his Truth Social network, plus the usual kickbacks for his hotels and resorts,., Win, win,,,😷

Absolutely! Why would Trump actually fill that 'Head of Efficiency' roll with a government employee? To do so would be counter-intuitive when we think about it! And besides, the government may become SO efficient that it disqualifies people like Musk and Trump from actually doing business anywhere in the USA!
