No fan of Trump but crypto is almost designed to be the perfect target for theft. Billions have been lost over multiple administrations since 2016. This is just the largest so far and seems to be because of some stupidity on the part of Binance people. Last I heard the perpetrators got hold of a dev's laptop and nobody seems to have done anything about the security breach.

Also North Korea is one of the main suspects because they have state backing so they have lots of resources but nobody knows for sure yet as far as I am aware.

We have also seen large scale hacks by high schoolers. Like when a kid hijacked about a dozen celebrity Twitter accounts a few years back.
