I totally get wanting to celebrate the nation's birthday, weather be damned (in 2012 for the late Queen's diamond jubilee there was a huge river pageant down the Thames through London and it poured with rain the whole time).

I noticed that very few were wearing wide brimmed hats and just weren't wedding hats at all

@Convivial they were in 100 degrees with high humidity. There's no appropriate outfit for that.

@jshm2 the story said "thousands" were evacuated because of high winds and a thunder storm. You should tell everyone in Washington how that never happened. I grew up in a family where absolutely everything "never happened"- but it's not going to work with the media telling people about some "thousands" of people that were NEVER there.
