I've no doubt that impeachment and removal from office should be (and should have been) Trump's fate, but he's got hundreds in Congress and millions of voters who are to various degrees complict in his past crimes and misdemeanors.

This will fire them up to vote, imo, and maybe a very few Trump voters will open their eyes. Honestly, I think most Trump voters are deplorable, and while I'd like to welcome them back into civilized society, I'm not holding my breath.

If this helps get voters who stayed home before to come out, great, but I'm not sure this is really the best way to do that.

All of those in my circle are college graduates and most have graduate/professional degrees. So I can have intelligent discussions with them about politics, the military, medicine, law, etc.

I have seen a significant fraction of the former tRUMP voters from 2016 subsequently reject him. Especially after January 6th. I try to get into their heads about how they could ever have voted for him. The most common answer I get is: “ [I] didn’t so much vote for him as I did against her.” With “her” being first Ms. Clinton and more recently Ms. Harris.

I wonder what the outcome of 2024 would have been if Mark Kelly had been the Democrats’ candidate?

@KunsanVeteran That's an interesting thought, but the timing wasn't right for him.

I'm not happy about it, but I think the Democrats needed to run a straight white male to have a chance against Trump. Against Vance or anyone else, I'm less certain about.
