Too many Rural Americans are dumb as dirt.

Trump's approval rating among rural Americans dropped in June to a new low of 50%, according to the June 3-8 Reuters/Ipsos poll. That compares with 60% approval in February 2025 shortly after Trump took office.

Half of these rubes approve of Trump!

The direct correlation between Iran War and gas prices is probably the primary reason for the drop. I can’t logically fathom why anyone is supporting Trump at this point, but if I try to get in their heads I can see fear of those “not like me” and “fear of the alternative” being their motivation.
