$1.8 Billion Theft
On Monday, the Trump administration announced the creation of a massive, unprecedented $1.776 billion "anti-weaponization" slush fund.
Where is that money coming from? Your wallet. Public taxpayer coffers.
And it’s being handed directly, through unmonitored payouts to Trump loyalists, MAGA allies, and convicted January 6th rioters and Proud Boys who claim they were "targeted" by the previous administration.
This is one of the most spectacularly corrupt and political heists of all time. The administration quietly dropped its weak, self-dealing lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of Trump's tax returns—a lawsuit where Trump's DOJ was literally suing Trump's IRS on behalf of Trump. Before a federal judge could dismiss it, they withdrew the suit and redirected $1.776 billion from the Treasury Department's Judgment Fund into a private account controlled entirely by a commission picked by Trump's Attorney General.
They even picked a cutesy, on-the-nose dollar amount—$1.776 billion—hoping the fake patriotism would distract you from the fact that they are legally laundering public funds to reward their base and, as Rep. Jamie Raskin warned, essentially fund a private militia for the next round of battle.
We can't let them get away with this. Join the next protest. Send donations to anti-Trump-pro-democracy organizations. Raise hell!
