He actually ordered destroyers to perform the work of minesweepers. I don't know which is more ridiculous.

@DeWayfarer Agreed. Sadly any US ship getting close enough to remove a mine will be destroyed by Iranian shore batteries. That strait is a no go zone for anyone without Iranian permission.
