This all stems from the Texas state legislature doing a partisan redistricting in 2025, which was challenged later that year and brought to SCOTUS. Opponents (democrats) presented SCOTUS with impartial metrics of fairness and objective algorithms to generate fair maps. SCOTUS ruled that the Texas gerrymander was legal.
In response, blue states are getting in on the redistricting game. Virginia & California both went to voters for permission to redistrict; that's much more than Texas did!!

No . . . . 48.55% . . . 1,486,451
Total votes . . . . 3,061,818
Turnout % of registered voters . . . 47.94%
It's really amusing how republicans were FINE with the Texas partisan redistricting, but are foaming at the mouth when blue states do it🤣😂
